(B) Stenosis, congenital (2, 3, 4,); due to swelling of the mucous membrane (5); fibroids (7); polypi (g); hypertrophy (11); increased flow of blood (6). (C) Chronic congestion of the uterine walls, due to flexion (8). A. Flexion of the uterus causing obstruction.--This seems at first a self-evident cause. It is said that a tube bent at an angle kinks itself, and the calibre is narrowed. It is also certain that in many cases of spasmodic dysmenorrhcea the uterus is flexed. It remains for us to ascertain whether (1) flexion is essentially associated with obstruction; (2) flexion is essentially associated with dysmenorrhcea. 1.
